Solaris bites the big one
Something had to give in Oracle's acquisition of Sun.
Granted, Oracle isn't in the open-source business (having co-opted Red Hat Enterprise Linux and rebadged it so they could say they had a *nix-based OS). And technically, Solaris--the *nix-based OS from Sun Microsystems--wasn't completely open-source in the first place; they held back some of the code for their enterprise clientele. In fact, Solaris never really had a chance in the desktop market in the first place.
Or did it?

It could have just as easily been called a corral, or a sandbox; but for some reason it's known as a jail.
There are some people who get really irate when someone rocks the boat. For whatever reason, these people feel they have the best way of doing something for themselves. I give Gentoo users grief for this, but the grandaddy of them all is BSD. These guys get it from (and dish it to) all sides.
